Capitalism (the US rendition of it) is still without a doubt the dominant paradigm. We're not in a transition away from anything. Most people are entirely consumed with building their brand and monetizing anything they can.

We don't even need a transition away from capitalism. Even Marx thought capitalism was an incredibly powerful system. It doesn't exist in a vacuum. It's all the stuff around it - the extent to which we maintain guardrails that achieve a higher purpose than growth - that matters. And that stuff is mostly missing. Nice that a bunch of folks in red cloth will do performance art, but you need a couple of hundred million people to care before it matters. People do care, but not as much as they care about being the star of their own life. That's why we're barreling towards systemic collapse. The only thing that will head it off is if we stop kidding ourselves about where we're at.

I want to build a better human. One that can survive the troubles of our own making. One less insufferable than the narcissistic monster of today.
