You are completely missing the point, and in the process, you're proving mine.
This isn't about the insurance companies or the government. This is about us and how we use our time. Screaming down the highway as fast as we can to do more, more, more is penny wise, pound foolish. The faster we drive, the more emissions we put out and the faster we are killing all of us. If time is so precious, what does it mean if we curtail life 5, 10, 15 years too soon for millions if not billions of people?
Likewise, the increase in speed limit doesn't mean fatalities go up solely because of excessive speed in the moment. The higher average speeds are, the more extreme the consequences when something goes wrong, regardless of whether it is texting or drunk driving.
The fact that you can't break out of the model of thinking only individual action causes risk is emblematic of the blind spot I am here to call out again and again.
